MEET Dane Tudor
Rossland, BC’s Dane Tudor is ‘08’s Canadian Open Freeskiing Champ. “Dane transformed his skis into
magic wands,” said head judge Jeff Holden, “riding them with the grace and power of a magician.”
The competition was held in January on Red Mountain’s treacherous and snow-laden Mount Roberts.
Dave Pym… a tireless volunteer in ski racing at
all levels.
Mélanie Turgeon… who dominated the 1994
Junior World Championships and later won the
downhill title in the 2003 FIS World Ski
Championships.
ROSSIGNOL SEVEN ARTISTIC SINS

The Year of the Deep
Whistler Blackcomb’s mid-February
base of 734 cm (24 feet) gets bigger
every day. Says WB staffer Ryan
Proctor: “I’m not sure when the last
time was I had to look for powder.”
At its core, freestyle culture is all about artistic expression. And
that art has always gone beyond athletic creativity on the hill
and in the air to include skate-inspired style on skis and snowboards.
To celebrate that style, Rossignol’s new limited edition
of seven twin tips features interpretations of lust, gluttony,
greed, sloth, rage, envy and pride painted by iconic board-sport
and album-cover artists. The painters include Steve Caballero,
Will Barras and Squindo. — Doug Schnitzspahn

OUR BAD(S)
In our Fall edition (Vol.22 No.1) of Ski Press, our
Ski Test erroneously states that Elan’s Magfi re 8
has Wave Flex Technology. Not so. The ski has a
Wood Core Cap construction with Lithium in a
Fusion Technology. “The Lithium propriety,” says
Elan offi cials, “is to keep the same fl ex stiffness
no matter the temperatures… making it
predictable in every condition.”
In our Boot Review in the same issue, the
photos of the Dalbello boots
(page 34) are reversed: The
Krypton Kryzma is the one on
the left; the Krypton Il Moro
is on the right.
In our Winter edition (Vol.22
No.3), our cover shows skier
Seth Morrison skiing Mica Heli
in BC. The photo is still by
Endre Løvaas. FREE
